New Neighbor Cookie Table

Hello Neighbor is a 501c3 nonprofit that works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugees in Pittsburgh. We serve over 95 families from 12 different countries and have found that many of our refugee women are amazing bakers. We created the New Neighbor Cookie table as a way for our refugee women–nearly all mothers–to support their families through a supplemental income and share their favorite recipes with their new community.

In its second official year, the New Neighbor Cookie Table is proud to present that we now partner with 20 refugee bakers from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and offer a variety of traditional sweets. Each box of cookies is made with love and $0.75 of every cookie sold goes directly to the baker herself.

Meet the Syrian, Iraqi, and Afghan refugee women behind these sweet Middle Eastern treats. These women are incredible bakers who face barriers to finding work outside the home, and are using their gift of baking to earn a supplemental income and provide a better future for their families.
